Texas constable fees 2026: what it costs to serve a citation

Each Texas county's commissioners court sets its own sheriff and constable fees (Local Government Code §118.131), so the price of having a constable serve a citation varies from county to county. Below, every fee was taken from the county's own published fee schedule and links to it. We don't estimate or copy fees from third parties: counties we haven't verified say check with county.

Clerks usually charge a separate fee to issue the citation (often $8). Private JBCC-certified process servers set their own prices, and they can't serve eviction citations without a court order (why).
